I remember riding shotgun in my Daddy's two-tone blue Ford pick-up truck, hammering him with questions as we drove along deserted country backroads.
Daddy, what color is clear?
Why do some people like onions, when clearly they're disgusting?
Is something wrong with their tastebuds?
Does the color red look the same to you as it does to me? How do you know?
If I go to school so I can work and I work so I can live, when will I really get to live?
Dad would try to answer best as he could, but inevitably, he'd shrug his shoulders and say, "Halee, you think too much."
Three decades have passed since those days, and not much has changed. I still ask tough questions, and Dad would still say I think too much. But these days, I marshal that very same spirit of inquiry into my vocation as a radio/podcast host, writer, researcher, and educator.
As a podcast host, I ask tough questions about how faith informs our understanding of culture, and vice versa.

My writing has appeared in The Washington Post, Christianity Today, Christian Education Journal, Real Clear Religion, Relevant, Books and Culture, Gifted for Leadership, Outcomes, Intervarsity's The Well.
In my first book, Dare Mighty Things: Mapping the Challenges of Leadership for Christian Women, I explored how Christian women experience leadership today--their contributions and their challenges.
My book, Christian Curious: 6 Vital Questions from Young Adults to a Church in Crisis, unpacks the findings of a 5-year qualitative study on how churches can reach young adults. With insights gleaned from more than 500 interviews and 100 focus groups, I discuss what churches can do to minister to young adults and address the unique challenges of the 21st century.
I have been happily married to Paul for over half my life--23 years! Together, we have two daughters, Eliana (15) and Vivienne (13), who are my greatest joy.
In my spare time, I love running, hiking, and baking. I'm passionate, too, about photography, and the landscape pictures featured throughout this website is the world through my lens. Soli deo gloria!
